Different features. Different jobs.

Start with how you use them.

Everyday daylight, reflected glare on the road, reading outside: tell us where you want your sunglasses to work. Your prescription and activities guide the conversation.

Your prescription

Distance, reading and progressive sun lenses serve different viewing needs. We can discuss a suitable lens design alongside your prescription and chosen frame.

UV protection

Look for UV400 or 100% UVA/UVB protection. Darker tint is not proof of stronger UV protection; check the rating rather than the appearance.

Tint & polarization

Tint reduces visible brightness. Polarization can reduce reflected glare from roads, water and similar surfaces. It is a separate feature from UV protection.

Frames and lenses, together

Good sunglasses begin with a considered fit.

Frame size, shape and curve influence which prescription lenses are suitable. We help you weigh appearance, comfort and practical lens choices together; not every combination works for every prescription.

A frame that sits well also helps limit light entering around the sides. Bring your current glasses and let us know if you have had difficulty with the fit or vision in previous sunglasses.

A few helpful answers

Before you decide.

Is polarization the same as UV protection?

No. Polarization addresses reflected glare; UV protection filters ultraviolet light. Check the UV rating even when a lens is polarized or very dark.

Can any frame become prescription sunglasses?

Suitability depends on your prescription, the frame and the lens design. Bring your prescription to the optical so we can discuss the combinations that make sense for you.

Do I need to book an eye exam to buy sunglasses?

You can explore eyewear without booking an exam, and outside prescriptions are welcome. If your vision has changed or your prescription needs reassessment, an eye exam is the appropriate starting point.

Can you adjust my sunglasses after purchase?

Eyewear bought at iDoctor includes free lifetime in-store adjustments. Bring the glasses in if the frame slips or feels uncomfortable.

Questions before booking?

Quick answers for your visit.

Team hours: Mon–Fri, 9 am–5 pm.
How do I book an eye exam?

Use our online scheduler to choose a date and review appointment options, even when the office is closed. Follow the steps in the scheduler to book your visit.

If your first selected day has no appointments, try another date. Open the online scheduler (opens in a new tab) →

Can’t find a suitable appointment?

If the scheduler doesn’t show a time that works for you, send our team your preferred days and times using the website contact form. We’ll follow up within one business day.

Sending a request does not reserve an appointment.

Which vision plans do you accept?

We accept major vision plans, including VSP, EyeMed, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, Spectera and NVA. Individual benefits, copays and allowances depend on your plan and require verification by our team.

What if I don’t have vision insurance?

You can visit iDoctor with or without vision insurance. For current eye-exam and contact-lens service fees, send our team a question before your visit. We can also help you explore eyewear options for your budget.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring your current glasses or contact lenses, insurance card or plan information, photo ID and a list of your medications. Bring any questions you’d like to discuss, too.

How much time should I allow?

We schedule 30-minute eye exams so there is time for your questions. Allow extra time after the exam if you plan to choose glasses or contact lenses.

When will your team reply?

Our regular office hours are Monday–Friday, 9 am–5 pm, with weekends closed. We reply to form messages within one business day. Holiday hours may vary.
